Campbell Earns 'B' For Tobacco Control

Orchard City earns 'B' grade for overall tobacco control and 'A' grade for providing smoke-free outdoor air.

Campbell has earned a "B" grade for its tobacco control efforts, according to the latest report card issued by the American Lung Association. 

However, for providing smoke-free outdoor air, the Orchard City received an "A" grade. 

Out of 12 total points possible on the association's 2014 report card, Campbell received 8 ... the highest number among Santa Clara County cities rated by agency for their policies related to smoke-free outdoor environments, smoke-free housing, and reducing sales of tobacco products.

Also, out of four points possible in the smoke-free outdoor air category, Campbell received four points for protecting dining, entry ways, public events and recreation and service areas. However, it received zero out of four points for sidewalks and work sites.

Out of four points possible in the smoke-free housing category, Campbell received zero points for non-smoking units, non-smoking common areas, disclosure efforts with citizens and so-called nuisance and housing authority units.

Out of four points possible in the reducing sales of tobacco products category, Campbell received four points for tobacco retailer licensing, but zero points for sales near schools and parks, sales in pharmacies and sampling of tobacco products, according to the report.
