`` two nonpartisan organizations, the Concord Coalition and Fix the Debt'' Nonpartisan is in theRead More eye of the beholder. These groups in general and Fix The Debt in particular have ties back to "rentiers". That is, folks who make money off of suppressing wages and increasing return on capital. They obfuscate the argument by saying it is all about finances -- just like you do around your kitchen table. That is a lie. Sovereign countries with fiat money (their own money not tied to a commodity like gold) chooses winners and losers by its policies. The "debt" gets fixed with increased GDP, inflation, taxes or a combination. These "debter" guys are all about zero inflation, high return on capital and paying for it with taxes on wage earners with depressed wages. It is partisan and it is the Republican agenda.

What is the big deal? In the midwest it is called an EXPRESS BUS. It makes less stops. It stillRead More gets stuck in traffic, it still has to deal with Stop lights. In Silicon Valley we do not even have the systems to tell you on your smart phone where the buses or trains are at. MOST MAJOR cities have that. Imagine how little it would cost to just change the bus stop signs and let the people on the route know there is an express. If the product is good, people will come. Or is this more politicians giving money to their buddies? Millions for painted buses and new signs? Make one think....

Why not focus the article on the reason for the visit – an agreement between the twoRead More technology capitals of the world to bring increased benefits to all humanity. The tiny country of Israel has been responsible for important advances in medicine, agriculture, information technology and security, and California can benefit from this. Instead, half the article (and the lead photo) focused on a tiny group of anti-semitic protesters. The only technology the Palestinians have given the world over the past 30 years is the suicide bomber vest. This is shoddy journalism at its worst.

The article, the emphasis, the photograph? Simply another example of poor journalism and journalismRead More with a political agenda. Just stop it please. Report responsibly, and for once look for the good, ye naysayers!

The war on poverty let me see how's that working out. Seems to be getting worse maybe we needRead More someone else in there instead of babs.

The war on poverty was "lost" by design. For an interesting explanation why you might goRead More to the PBS Fresh Air website and do a search for Sargent Shriver retrospective and listen to the story. What they were doing to help people and train them for jobs and businesses worked, but when party bosses started to see less people dependent on them, and money coming from channels they did not approve of they killed the program.

If I get this right, the response time went down because the number of emergency response workersRead More went down while the number of calls went up. Withholding funds under these circumstances is like cutting draught horses from the team and beating the remainders for not pulling the full loads just as fast as the full team.
