Coastal Cleanup Day Inland, In Campbell

Sounds like a misnomer, but there are local creeks to be cleaned and they run to the ocean. Campbellians can win some great prizes too.

Saturday the world joins in cleaning up the oceans, thanks to an event dubbed Coastal Cleanup Day.

But Campbellians don't have to drive over the hill. They can clean right here. There are four local streams that flow to the ocean that need to be cleaned. (see photos for details)

The only one that still needs volunteers is Los Gatos Creek at Creekside Way. Three others are full (but check this link. You can clean San Jose, Los Gatos or go to Santa Cruz and hit the beaches.)
Volunteers don't even have to touch the trash: they can use cleanup sticks, like those used by park workers.

As if altruism isn't enough, the cleanup crew is running a contest to win free tickets to the Santa Cruz Boardwalk. Details here https://www.facebook.com/mywatershedwatch
