A puppy who survived brutal abuse by the time she was three months old, is recovering and officials are seeking donations to help.

The seven-month old pit bull named Miss Harper had her ears and one of her hind legs cut off. She was found by Nassau County SPCA officials in New York in September with the devastating injuries.

"Her scars are most likely permanent, damage to her back toes is likely permanent, and she could have surgery to repair her ears, but it may not come to that," said Dr. Kim Barlowe of My Pet's Vet.

"Our main concern is rehabilitating her and finding her a good home," said Barlowe.

Miss Harper was the only animal found in the home and the people who hurt her face arrest and severe consequences for maiming the pup. The investigation is ongoing and officials are taking extra care to make sure no other animals are harmed and justice is served for Miss Harper.

anyone that intentionally harms their pets are scum. they should be electrocuted. if you have a pet you can no longer care for or you don't want, donate it to someone. their is no excuse for intentionally harming a pet.

They are almost always laws pending in every state for tougher penalties. PLEASE research your state and see if you can get behind a bill and help push it. Until we have harsh MINIMUM penalties, such as minimum jail time, and fines that start much higher, this is going to continue. In my opinion, this should have almost as high a penalty as attempted murder of a person. These are innocent beings and someone has to stand up for them. I am one of the people. There are a lot, but there needs to be many more fighting for the animals. In a perfect world, we would string them up, and cut off some of their body parts, but I suppose that wouldn't be humane, but then again, neither are they.
