Charity Magnetic

Its not uncommon to see ads for local musicians having a concert to raise funds for medical bills to help a member of local scene in a local club. It is uncommon to find the caliber metal heavies on the bill of one such benefit at an Oakland club this Friday Night, Jan 17.

Robb Flynn of the very popular Oakland born heavy metal band Machine Head has put together an amazing line up of absolute legends in metal world to help Nikki Davis, a long time supporter of the bay area metal scene, who lost her husband and was severely injured in a motorcycle accident last year.

Known as Robb Flynn and Friends, the show boasts an evening of Black Sabbath classics preformed by members of the mega band Metallica, the super heavy Slayer, thrash pioneers Exodus, Bay Area favorites Testament, and the resurgent Death Angel. This has a chance to be an epic, once in a lifetime event. An educated guess reasons that Kirk Hammet will be the guest from Metallica, and that alone shoots this show into the must see file. Hammet has announced that he will play with both Exodus and Death Angel when the play his own horror fest at the regency ballroom next month.

This all goes down at the Oakland Metro Opera House, which is really an old industrial building converted into a great club. Venue offers multiple rooms, so you can escape the music when needed, a smaller stage that has been just as much fun as the main stage on occasion. The club is at 630 3rd street in Oakland.
