Local Swim Classes For Kids

A list of places you can take your babies and kids to learn to swim.

 

Recently, Mom Squad friend Maayan K asked: “Can you please post places that teach mommy and me swim classes to babies in the area? Thank you!”

So we thought, what a perfect topic for the start of the Summer season! Here are some local places we have found to check out:

Campbell Community Center

The Campbell Community Center offers swim lessons for kids starting at age 6 months. The younger ones can learn in a “Parent & Me” class where the parents are involved in helping their children learn.

There are classes for many age groups and skill levels. The pool is outdoors, so wear sunscreen, proper swim wear, and plan accordingly.

YMCA of Silicon Valley

There are many local branches of “the Y” to choose from and each has slightly different amenities. The Southwest YMCA, Central YMCA, Northwest YMCA, and East Valley YMCA all have swimming pools with swim lessons available.

Classes start as young as 6 months with their Parent/ Child class. Both private and group lessons offered year-round for both members and non-members. Pools vary from indoor to outdoor depending on location.

JCC of Silicon Valley

Private and group lessons are available from age 6 months and up. Both members and non-members are welcome at their heated outdoor pools.

Westgate Cabana Club

Swim lessons are offered to members and non-members alike and start as young as 6 months. Lessons are held from June - July in an outdoor pool.

Saratoga Star Aquatics

Swim lessons for ages 6 months and up offered year-round at indoor pools.

California Sports Center

Two different aquatics programs are offered through California Sports Center:

The first is held at the Sunnyvale Swim Complex and the other is held at San Jose’s Rotary Ryland Pool. Lessons start as young as 3 months with a “Parent-Tot” class.

Maki Swim

Classes are offered year-round in both indoor and outdoor pools and generally start at age 6 months, but they are happy to work with younger babies as well.

Sutton Swim School

Swim lessons are offered year-round for babies as young as 3 months at an indoor pool.

Osprey Aquatics

All swim lesson are private (1 student/ 1 instructor) and are taught at an outdoor pool.

Almaden Oaks Community Pool

They offer both private and group lessons at an outdoor heated pool.

Almaden Swim and Racquetball Club

Both private and group lessons are available at an outdoor pool.

Sunsational Swim School

They will come to you to teach private lessons in your own pool or your community pool. (All ages.)
