Get Out in Campbell: Donuts, Art, A Movie and the Fourth of July

An outdoor concert, psycho donuts and pop art, an outdoor movie, Fourth of July in neighboring Los Gatos and professional soccer and fireworks; our suggestions to Get Out in and around Campbell this holiday weekend.

Where/When: 300 Grant St. Campbell () 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.,Thursday 

Why Go: Listen to the Big Band sounds of Joe Ferrari with their look back to the music of the 1940s and 1950s. And do it while you enjoy the ambiance on the Orchard City Green in front of Campbell's . Food and drink are available for purchase.

Where/When: , 2006 Winchester Blvd., Friday, 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. 

Why Go: Just in case crazy donuts aren't enough for you, be aware that Psycho Donuts has added something else into the mix. Friday night is opening night for PsychoPop! - the donut shop's venture into the art world. Naturally they are featuring art in keeping with their wacky donut style. Special offer: buy a piece of art at the opening and get a free donut.  The exhibit will be up until July 21.

Why Go: Enjoy another Campbell summer tradition — outdoor screenings of classic films. This week's feature is "Field of Dreams." Bring a blanket, some snacks and kick back and enjoy the show.

Where/When: Stanford Stadium,  269 Campus Dr., Stanford,  Saturday, 7:30 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Why Go: A bit of a drive, but worth it for a nice Saturday outing. This is your chance to literally get twice as much bang for the buck and some real kicks with MLS soccer.  The San Jose Earthquakes take on the New York Red Bulls at 7:30 p.m. followed by a post-game fireworks extravaganza.

Why Go: It's Independence Day, the day to celebrate the birth of our nation. Join friends and neighbors in Los Gatos for their all-day extravaganza. The town will be wearing red-white-and-blue for the festivities that include an All-American Picnic and Games with a traditional band concert on the high school lawn. After the concert, there's a free cake and ice cream social. The day-long activities end with a twilight dance with music for every generation.
