Rosemary Reads Seuss

Campbell Union School District's Rosemary Elementary School gets a visit from red-and-white, striped hat-wearing Rotarians.

"Do you know what a Who is?" asks Campbell Rotarian Bill Highley.

The second-graders at all raise their hands and take a stab at what the fictional Who really is.

Today marks the 107th birthday of the American children's author Theodor Seuss Geisel, better known simply as Dr. Seuss. The Campbell Rotary had 11 of its members at the elementary school reading to the students from Seuss' collection.

"It's great, because kids get one-on-one attention," says second-grade teacher, Denise Manfroy. "They are modeling good reading to the students and, in turn, they learn respect for their elderly."
