Rising Authors: Xia Thao, Village School

Campbell Union School District's Rising Young Authors series includes published works by 13 local students.

The ninth annual Campbell Union School District Rising Young Authors Series includes 13 students from throughout the district.

Xia Thao is the Village School winner, with her book, Music to My Ears.

Campbell Patch asked seven questions of the 9-year-old student and here is what she had to say.

Campbell Patch: Why do you like to write?

Xia Thao: I like to write because I can use my imagination.

Patch: What do you like to write about?

Xia: I like to write fantasies that are about dragons.

Patch: What is your favorite book?

Xia: My favorite book is The Fire Within.

Patch: Do you have a favorite character? What do you like about them?

Xia: My favorite character in Music to my Ears is the dragon, even though he's bad.

Patch: Do you have a favorite author? What do you like about them?

Xia: My favorite authour is Rick Roirdan, who writes about historical events happening in the present.

Patch: What is your book about? 

Xia: My book is about a girl and a boy who need to fight an evil dragon. That's what I started with.

Patch: Why is writing important to you?

Xia: Writing is important to me because I can share my mind's eye of things.
