Rising Authors: Jennifer Tashjian, Forest Hill Elementary School

Campbell Union School District's Rising Young Authors series includes published works by 13 local students.

The ninth annual Campbell Union School District Rising Young Authors Series includes 13 students from throughout the district.

Jennifer Tashjian is the Forest Hill Elementary School winner, with her book, The Flying Chair.

Campbell Patch asked seven questions of the elementary school student and here is what she had to say.

Campbell Patch: Why do you like to write?

Jennifer Tashjian: I like to write because I think it is very fun and you can use your imagination to create whatever story you want.

Patch: What do you like to write about?

Jennifer: I like to write about different things.  I’ll usually just write about whatever I am thinking about at the time. 

Patch: What is your favorite book?

Jennifer: My favorite book is The Hunger Games, by Suzanne Collins.

Patch:Do you have a favorite character? What do you like about them?

Jennifer: My favorite character is Katniss Everdeen from The Hunger Games.  She is brave, kind, smart, and a really good hunter.

Patch: Do you have a favorite author? What do you like about them?

Jennifer: Jerry Spinelli is my favorite author.  I just really like his books.

Patch: What is your book about? 

Jennifer: My book is about a 7-year-old girl in France who discovers a magical chair.

Patch: Why is writing important to you?

Jennifer: I really enjoy writing, and once I get started, it’s hard to stop!
