Rising Author: Bryceinda Valencia, Sherman Oaks School

Campbell Union School District's Rising Young Authors series includes published works by 13 local students.

The ninth annual Campbell Union School District Rising Young Authors Series includes 13 students from throughout the district.

Bryceinda Valencia is the Sherman Oaks School winner, with her book, La hormiga sin amigos.

Campbell Patch asked seven questions of the 10-year-old fifth grade student and here is what she had to say.

Campbell Patch: Why do you like to write?

Bryceinda Valencia: I like to write because I can express what I think.

Patch: What do you like to write about?

Bryceinda: I like to write about characters that are fictional.

Patch: What is your favorite book?

Bryceinda: My favorite book is James and the Giant Peach.

Patch: Do you have a favorite character? What do you like about them?

Bryceinda: My favorite character is James because he was very nice even if they treated him without respect.

Patch: Do you have a favorite author? What do you like about them?

Bryceinda: My favorite author is Roald Dahl. He writes stories that can be funny, sad, and exciting.

Patch: What is your book about?

Bryceinda: My book is about an ant  that doesn't have friends. But when he does something brave, all the ants what to be his best friend.

Patch: Why is writing important to you?

Bryceinda: Writing is important to me because I can tell others what I feel or think.
