Rising Author: Alice Lee, Lynhaven Elementary School

Campbell Union School District's Rising Young Authors series includes published works by 13 local students.

The ninth annual Campbell Union School District Rising Young Authors Series includes 13 students from throughout the district.

Alice Lee is the Lynhaven Elementary School winner, with her book, The Best Poems.

Campbell Patch asked seven questions of the 10-year-old fifth grader and here is what she had to say.

Campbell Patch: Why do you like to write?

Alice Lee: I like to write poems with similes.

Patch: What do you like to write about?

Alice: I like to write about things that happen to me and things I see.

Patch: What is your favorite book?

Alice: My favorite book is My Sister the Vampire.

Patch: Do you have a favorite character? What do you like about them?

Alice: My favorite character is Olivia from My sister the Vampire because she wants to fit in school and meet new friends. Also, she loves the color pink.

Patch: Do you have a favorite author? What do you like about them?

Alice: Sienna Mercer is my favorite author because her stories are shocking; you never know what’s going to happen next.

Patch: What is your book about?

Alice: My book is a collection of poems I wrote.

Patch: Why is writing important to you?

Alice: It’s fun to write, and you can learn lots of things. People who read my stories can learn, too.
