Moreland's Destination ImagiNation

Three Moreland School District Schools will compete March 31.

The idea is to use creativity to problem solve, foster team work, collaboration and leadership skills in small groups.

Moreland School District has been doing this for more than a decade and this year, half of its schools have qualified to compete against other schools in the state.

The competition is the Destination ImagiNation State Competition in Clovis, Calif. this Saturday. If they advance, the teams will then compete in the Global Tournament competition in May.

“We are very honored and proud of our students for their creative energy and teamwork that has advanced them to the state competition," said Moreland School District Superintendent Mark Barmore in an email. "Moreland has been an active member in Destination Imagination for quite a number of years, and we have seen the educational and social benefits our students are getting out of quality competitions such as this one.”

Twelve teams from four Moreland School District schools competed at the Silicon Valley Tournament on March 3 and three schools with four teams placed first and second place. These four teams, along with 116 other local teams will advance to the state competition.
