Marshall Lane Pumpkin Walk Turns 40

Hundreds of families come out to Marshall Lane Elementary Saturday to celebrate school PTA fundraiser.

The Marshall Lane Elementary School campus was packed with families and kids in their Halloween costumes Saturday afternoon in celebration of the school's 40th Annual Marshall Lane Pumpkin Walk.

The event included a rock-climbing wall, carnival games, haunted houses, a mini go-cart track, giant slides and a bake sale led by Marshall lane teachers.

According to Marshall Lane PTA Pumpkin Walk Chair Tanya Gianatasio, funds raised by the celebration would go toward the school's librarian as well as books for the school library.

Although this is Gianatasio's first year running the Pumpkin Walk, she said she has been attending the event since she was 10 years old.

"I grew up in the neighborhood, and for me to run it has been a great reward to give back," she said.

All the events Saturday afternoon were staffed by parent and teacher volunteers from all over Campbell Union School District.

The event kicked off with a costume contest and ended with raffle drawings that included items that were donated by nearby local businesses.
