Leigh, Prospect and Westmont High School Students Receive Scholarships
The Silicon Valley Association of Realtors Foundation awarded one of 18 scholarships to three local area senior.
With college around the corner, any little bit of scholarship money helps.
For their hard work and accomplishments in academics, athletics and extra-curricular activities the Silicon Valley Realtors Charitable Foundation has awarded 18 graduating Silicon Valley seniors a $1,000 scholarship.
Keren Hendel, who graduated from Westmont High, was one of those students. Hendel will attend Tufts University. Ian Ferguson, a graduate of Prospect High School, will attend UC-Berkeley. And Arnela Colic of Leigh High School, is headed to the University of California-Berkeley.
"We are very happy we have been able to assist our youth for the past 14 years as they embark on their college careers," said SILVAR Scholarship Chair Nina Yamaguchi. "The seniors selected for the SILVAR Scholarship Program are very deserving of recognition. We are pleased we can help our local students achieve their dreams.”
The selection committee of the scholarship program, which has given awards for 14 years now, is comprised of local business leaders and representatives from local high schools and colleges. Over the years, the program has awarded $252,000 to more than 250 graduating seniors in Silicon Valley.
