Green Thumbs Offer Chance to Help Westmont FFA

The Westmont FFA kicks off its plant sales season this weekend.

Did you know that Campbell is home to one of the few surviving Future Farmers of America chapters in Silicon Valley?

That's what Booster Vice President Linda Bargas tells Campbell Patch.

Campbell's is one of 305 schools in California that are involved in the FFA. The local club has been in existence for the last 75 years, Bargas said in an email.

And this weekend the organization kicks off their plant sales that benefit the school organization. On March 31, the Master Gardeners' sale will take place at Kelley Park in San Jose.

All Campbell FFA plants will sell for $2 per 4” pot. Lettuce and flowers are $2 for 6-packs.

The plant sales will end on May 5, with the Westmont FFA's Farm Fun Fest, a student organized celebration for the community.

We would like as many people as possible to come to the sales – either Kelley Park or to the greenhouse on plant sale days for the full farm experience.

"It’s one thing seeing your little garden grow, it’s a whole other experience choosing your own from the 5,000 plants our FFA Boosters and Students are cultivating this spring!" Bargas said in an email. "Bring your little ones, or your farmers-at-heart, and come on down to the Westmont Ag Farm!"
