Campbell's St. Lucy School Lego Robotics Team Wins First Place

The BoltBots earn first place in costume category at regional First Lego League competition Sunday, Jan. 26.

Congratulations to Campbell's St. Lucy School, 76 E. Kennedy Ave., for winning first place in the costume category of Sunday's First Lego League robotics regional championships.

The team advanced to the regional competition after placing fourth in its grouping category at the FLL competition held at Intel last November, according to school officials.

The team, known as the BoltBots, spent three months designing, building and programming an autonomous robot to accomplish a series of tasks on a game board in less than 2.5 minutes.

The team also won first place in the project category this past November.

St. Lucy School Principal Sue Grover expressed appreciation for the team and said the students carried the campus' "Lighting Spirit" throughout the competition.

FLL is a robotics program for 9- to 16-year-olds designed to get them excited about science and technology and teach them valuable employment and life skills.
