Campbell Union School District Celebrates Its Teachers and Staff of the Year

There was standing room only at Thursday night's Campbell Union School District Board Meeting. The governing board was recognizing its 2012-13 Teachers and Classified Employees of the Year at each of its 12 school sites. The two employees that will represent the district at the county level were also announced.

There were tears, there were smiles and there were flowers as each employee, be it teacher or classified employee, accepted his or her award on May 9.

Tracy Brown, teacher at Campbell Middle School and Denise Johnson, Special Ed. Associate at Rolling Hills Middle School were named as the district's Teacher of the Year and Classified Employee of the Year.  

Brown has worked at the district for 19 years.

"Tracy has witnessed the evolution of Campbell Middle School over the course of 19 years and she still brings the same level of passion, enthusiasm and meaningful ideas to the table," Brown's nomination form reads. "Tracy Brown is a model of academic rigor, relationships, commitment and passion at Campbell Middle School."

Johnson has served the district for seven and a half years. 

"Denise is often referred to as the core of the classroom and students respond to her as such," her nomination form reads. "They know that she loves them and they love her in return."

Campbell Union School District officials will send their names to the County Office of Education's employee recognition programs for a chance to be chosen to represent the county in the State's program.
