Campbell Union School District Appoints Thomas Gemetti as Newest Board Member

The Saratoga resident's term will expire in 2014.

The Campbell Union School District appointed its newest board member, Saratoga resident Thomas Gemetti at its last board meeting.

Gemetti is an accountant and the parent of a son attending transitional kindergarten at Capri Elementary and a daughter at Forest Hill Elementary School. He was one of 12 candidates interviewed to complete the term vacated when Scott Kleinberg resigned this past July. The term ends in 2014.

"I believe in making sure we educate our kids to their highest potential," Gemetti said.

Gemetti said there are two things that set him apart from the other candidates vying for the seat:

1.  A background in finance/accounting that provides oversight for the board and

2.  A passion for education of kids for the while district.

"I'm really passionate to be on the board long term," he said. "I see this a longer-term commitment."

Gemetti said that he is looking forward to getting up to speed quickly so as to become a contributing member of the board.

“I am also looking forward to visiting all the schools and getting to know what’s going on at all the schools in our district.”

Campbell Union School District Superintendent Dr. Eric Andrew administered the oath of office on Sept. 13.

"The role of the board is to set policy for the school district,” Andrew said. “They bring in the parent perspective as liaisons. Thomas has a lot of expertise that is important to a school board and he's active in our current schools. I'm very excited about the appointment."

I am impressed with CalTrans ability to do the cleanup, but the problem of homelessness does not goRead More away. Until we find a way to help these people in need, the camps will just move to another location, and everything will start all over again. The homeless need help - whether they want it or not. It's time to get that ball rolling.

Who is Tony Faber? Here is some history from a family member. My name is Karen Hunt and myRead More grandfather is and was Albert Jacob Faber. He owned and ran that bike shop up until his death in 1975. Subsequent to grandpa's death the house/building became the property of my grandmother, Lucille Faber. Upon her death, the property went to my mother, Jackie Faber-Cornick. In 1978, the business, not the building was sold to Alex Lariviere and he has conducted business since. The building was never sold and belongs to my mom, Jackie Cornick. It was her great-grandparents home back in the 1920's. We are shocked and saddened by this tremendous loss. At this time, we are trying to decide the fate of that beloved building. We are currently awaiting forensics tests, engineering and structural reports, and working with the City to keep it safe and prevent it from being vandalized and becoming a blight. I'm happy to answer any questions you might have about the history of Faber's Cyclery. My grandfather was a man of character and integrity. Sadly, neither of his two sons became involved in the business. With that said, anybody claiming to be a Faber or son of Albert Jacob, is just misrepresenting the truth. Thank you for sharing your story and memories! Very truly yours, Karen Hunt Great grandaughter of the owner of the Original Fabers Cyclery.
