Bye-Bye, Summer!

Saying 'good-bye' to summer and the Unfinished List.

School starts up again next week, which means I get to go back to work. Summers always seem so long in the beginning, but by the end, I'm always amazed at how quickly they go by. I'm looking forward to bringing the bootie I collected at the ALA conference earlier this summer to the library to share with the kids. I'll be updating my author shrine with all the pictures I took as well. The story of how I collected all this bootie is here and here.

I started the summer with a list of things to accomplish with all my time off, but instead I participated in an online knitting tournament on the Ravelry.com website called Nerd Wars. One of the coolest things I made was a Doctor Who illusion panel. When you look at it straight on, it's just blue and white stripes. When you look at it from an angle, an image appears! (see pictures) Also, I spent a lot of time visiting friends and family out of town, so my list is still on my desk, undone, ignored and mocking me. So I say, "Go ahead and mock me, List! I'm going to knit instead, and Mr. Richards will have a new pair of woolly socks!"

Woolly socks are a great excuse for not getting other things done—as is blogging—but woolly socks work better. "I'm sorry you don't have clean underwear, darling, but here is a nice pair of woolly socks!" If you want to see what else I've been knitting instead of doing the List, feel free to stalk my Ravlery project page.
