Water Line Rerouting Along Budd Avenue Begins

San Jose Water said to expect traffic slow-downs on Budd Avenue, on either side of San Tomas Expressway.

Roadwork can be seen in various stages throughout the Orchard City. Beginning this week, Budd Avenue will also go under the knife, er, construction saws.

San Jose Water Company is rerouting and replacing a waterline that runs underneath Budd Avenue, through San Tomas Expressway, said San Jose Water Company Project Supervisor Maurice Cyr.

"We are planning on doing the work on the surrounding areas, cutting and digging and pushing pipes underneath," Cyr said. "We notified the residents."

A total of 195 feet of pipe underneath San Tomas Expressway will be rerouted and replaced, he said, and some of the on/off ramps will also be impacted.

"Work started yesterday (Sept. 24) and is expected to continue for the next three to four weeks," said Humberto Zuniga, foreman at Preston Pipelines. "Expect slower traffic around 8:30 a.m. but especially between 9 and 9:30 a.m."
