Did you know that one of the food options for astronauts in the International Space Station includes dehydrated rice and beans?
That's what Patch found out thanks to questions sent in by readers for the four member crew of the , who flew in NASA's of the space shuttle program, and visited the Ames Research Center on Monday.
In the time alloted for questions during the press conference, Patch asked questions sent in by Campbell reader Lee Balki, Los Altos' Julie and Mountain View reader Ernest Aguayo to Commander Chris Ferguson, Pilot Doug Hurley and Mission Specialist Sandra Magnus.
How do astronauts wash their hair? Listen to Magnus' response!
Other questions sent in by Campbell residents included:
- Sinead Mc Donnell Borgersen: My questions - whats it like walking in space and Do you think we should build a base on the moon ?
- Todd: I'd like to know... What's the most challenging thing about living in space?
- Tripp Rademacher: So this may be inappropriate but well, I just got to ask. Do they have sex in space? and if that particular person has not, has anyone done this yet or at least relived themselves? haha, I know it seems silly but this is a natural human thing to do and dedication or not that is a long time to be without no? lol
Thanks to all who sent questions in!
