I would also like to know why they ignore the actual wording of the recent truancy law enacted in 2010. Literally they claim that all reasons for absence or tardies other than illness of the specific child are labeled as unexcused and truant. I was "allowed only as a courtesy" a tire blow out on the way to school which made it impossible to get my child to school on time. I had to provide proof of the tire service, and I when I objected I was told I should move my child to a school closer to home so my son could walk to school. He was 5 years old at the time. Campbell school district is interpreting the law is being far beyond its actual written intention in order to exact the most punitive stance possible toward Campbell parents. Their policy is discriminatory toward children and parents with very legitimate reasons for absense such as illness of parent, illness other siblings, too many chronic illnesses by the child, children with special needs, and Single parents. Almost all absenses are being arbitrarily labeled as unexcused and after 3 the parents are threatened with hearings and fines of up to $2000 and 1 year in jail. When I asked the superintendent why the board chose to be so punitive toward Campbell parents I was told basically because they can. Vote out the entire board for their descriminatory and punitive practices.

Hi Cynthia! Thanks for leaving your comments/questions/concerns but in order to get answers for your questions, can you specify what school district you are referring to? We have: Campbell Union School District (elementary and middle), Moreland School District (elementary and middle) and Campbell Union High School District. There are three candidates in each race. Thanks again for your input!
