Sonoma Chicken Coop Seeks Live Entertainment Permit and More

What to expect from tonight's Campbell City Council meeting.

The first Campbell City Council meeting of the month will take place tonight, 7:30 p.m., at 70 N. First St. and has recognitions as well as a new live entertainment permit application.

First up on the agenda's consent calendar are congratulations to the 2011 Citizen of the Year Cary Stover and the 2011 Business of the Year . The two will also be acknowledged at the Chamber of Commerce's Celebrate Campbell event in March 24, 6-9:00 p.m. at .

The next item is the approval of a Santa Clara County Open Space Authority grant that will reimburse the city $81,629 for specific components of its newest park project, on Union Avenue.

Under the "New Business" section of the agenda, the is requesting a live entertainment permit to allow the business of eight years in the downtown to offer live entertainment Monday through Sunday from 9:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m.

Jeff Starbeck wants to provide customers with musical entertainment from solo artists or two to three-piece bands, playing mostly jazz, folk and light/classic rock.

Starbeck's existing conditional use permit approved in 2002 limits live entertainment at the establishment from 8:30 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. Thursday through Saturday.

If approved, the council has the ability to rescind the permit if a public nuisance forms or if there is a significant rise in calls for service at the establishment.

I am impressed with CalTrans ability to do the cleanup, but the problem of homelessness does not goRead More away. Until we find a way to help these people in need, the camps will just move to another location, and everything will start all over again. The homeless need help - whether they want it or not. It's time to get that ball rolling.

Who is Tony Faber? Here is some history from a family member. My name is Karen Hunt and myRead More grandfather is and was Albert Jacob Faber. He owned and ran that bike shop up until his death in 1975. Subsequent to grandpa's death the house/building became the property of my grandmother, Lucille Faber. Upon her death, the property went to my mother, Jackie Faber-Cornick. In 1978, the business, not the building was sold to Alex Lariviere and he has conducted business since. The building was never sold and belongs to my mom, Jackie Cornick. It was her great-grandparents home back in the 1920's. We are shocked and saddened by this tremendous loss. At this time, we are trying to decide the fate of that beloved building. We are currently awaiting forensics tests, engineering and structural reports, and working with the City to keep it safe and prevent it from being vandalized and becoming a blight. I'm happy to answer any questions you might have about the history of Faber's Cyclery. My grandfather was a man of character and integrity. Sadly, neither of his two sons became involved in the business. With that said, anybody claiming to be a Faber or son of Albert Jacob, is just misrepresenting the truth. Thank you for sharing your story and memories! Very truly yours, Karen Hunt Great grandaughter of the owner of the Original Fabers Cyclery.
