New public art displays to be set in this week at the Los Gatos Creek Bridge.

Campbell loves its art.

The downtown has several art galleries to peruse, the city has its popular every month and 33 installations of public art, including the newest just unveiled earlier this month at the Orchard City Banquet Hall .

This Wednesday, the Orchard City will add a 34th installation to its collection at each end of the recently widened E. Campbell Avenue bridge.

The installation will consist of four, 6-foot-tall limestone sculptures by Denver artist Madeline Wiener.

Although the title has not been finalized, the artist is leaning towards “Campbell Harvest” for the piece. The 4-foot-tall bases are currently in place awaiting the 6-foot Wiener creations. In all, the pieces will be 10 feet tall once the installation is complete.

“I arrive on (June) 21st and we install on the 22nd,” Wiener says.

She has been carving stone since 1971 and in 1992 began public art projects that focus on engaging the viewer. Many of her works can be viewed on the website that bears her name.
