School Board Seeks Provisional Member

The Governing Board of the Campbell Union School District is looking for a candidate to fill the provisional position until December 2014.

If you’ve ever wanted to get involved in the , now is your chance.

The Governing Board of the Campbell Union School District is accepting applications for a provisional board member to serve until December 2014.

"One expectation is that they are familiar with the school district and ensure that the students in our community are receiving the best education possible," said Eric Andrews, superintendent of schools.

Andrews said that the candidate should have attended several school events and know how they operate.

Leaving the position vacant, board member Scott Kleinberg resigned from the board, effective July 15, according to a public notice.

Kleinberg left the school board for personal reasons, said  Spokeswoman Marla Sanchez.

The Governing Board will interview candidates and select one to fill the provisional position before September 13.

The provisional board member will serve on the board until the first Friday in December 2014, stated the public notice. A new board member will be elected in November 2014 to take over the position.

Sanchez said that there is interest in the position, as several people have picked up applications.

Potential candidates can receive applications at the district office at 155 N Third St., Campbell. They must be submitted by 3 p.m. on Thursday, August 30.

I am impressed with CalTrans ability to do the cleanup, but the problem of homelessness does not goRead More away. Until we find a way to help these people in need, the camps will just move to another location, and everything will start all over again. The homeless need help - whether they want it or not. It's time to get that ball rolling.

Who is Tony Faber? Here is some history from a family member. My name is Karen Hunt and myRead More grandfather is and was Albert Jacob Faber. He owned and ran that bike shop up until his death in 1975. Subsequent to grandpa's death the house/building became the property of my grandmother, Lucille Faber. Upon her death, the property went to my mother, Jackie Faber-Cornick. In 1978, the business, not the building was sold to Alex Lariviere and he has conducted business since. The building was never sold and belongs to my mom, Jackie Cornick. It was her great-grandparents home back in the 1920's. We are shocked and saddened by this tremendous loss. At this time, we are trying to decide the fate of that beloved building. We are currently awaiting forensics tests, engineering and structural reports, and working with the City to keep it safe and prevent it from being vandalized and becoming a blight. I'm happy to answer any questions you might have about the history of Faber's Cyclery. My grandfather was a man of character and integrity. Sadly, neither of his two sons became involved in the business. With that said, anybody claiming to be a Faber or son of Albert Jacob, is just misrepresenting the truth. Thank you for sharing your story and memories! Very truly yours, Karen Hunt Great grandaughter of the owner of the Original Fabers Cyclery.
