San Mateo Bridge Closed Friday to Monday

The San Mateo-Hayward Bridge will close entirely for this weekend and next for seismic work, beginning at 10 p.m. Friday.

Weekend plans? Make sure your route will work. The San Mateo-Hayward Bridge will close entirely this weekend.

Caltrans will close the bridge the weekends of Oct. 19-22, and Oct. 26-29, to allow crews to install a new seismic joint and replace 60 feet of the bridge deck just east of the high rise.

The full closure of all eastbound and westbound lanes will begin at 10 p.m. Friday of those weekends and continue until 5 a.m. the following Monday, opening in time for the weekday commute.
