Other facts

I grew up in the Campbell Union High School District and I am a proud graduate of Westmont High School. I am extremely passionate about using my experience as a teacher in East San Jose and as an entrepreneur at an innovative education technology startup to tackle the alarming issues that have plagued the Campbell Union High School District for years; issues that affect our community, our property values, and most importantly, the lives of our students.

My top priorities include:

1. Implementing programs to seriously address our district's 15% dropout rate.

2. Raising the low achievement scores that place us among the lowest in California when compared to similar schools.

3. Ensuring our teachers have the tools, technology, and training they need to succeed. Other priorities include building stronger partnerships with our K-8 schools, mobilizing alumni, local businesses, and the community toward a shared vision of success, and increasing student enrollment in college and vocational programs.

I hope you'll find my experience and passion for a strong public education worthy of one of your two votes. Learn more at www.kalengallagher.com or www.facebook.com/voteforkalen

I am impressed with CalTrans ability to do the cleanup, but the problem of homelessness does not goRead More away. Until we find a way to help these people in need, the camps will just move to another location, and everything will start all over again. The homeless need help - whether they want it or not. It's time to get that ball rolling.

Who is Tony Faber? Here is some history from a family member. My name is Karen Hunt and myRead More grandfather is and was Albert Jacob Faber. He owned and ran that bike shop up until his death in 1975. Subsequent to grandpa's death the house/building became the property of my grandmother, Lucille Faber. Upon her death, the property went to my mother, Jackie Faber-Cornick. In 1978, the business, not the building was sold to Alex Lariviere and he has conducted business since. The building was never sold and belongs to my mom, Jackie Cornick. It was her great-grandparents home back in the 1920's. We are shocked and saddened by this tremendous loss. At this time, we are trying to decide the fate of that beloved building. We are currently awaiting forensics tests, engineering and structural reports, and working with the City to keep it safe and prevent it from being vandalized and becoming a blight. I'm happy to answer any questions you might have about the history of Faber's Cyclery. My grandfather was a man of character and integrity. Sadly, neither of his two sons became involved in the business. With that said, anybody claiming to be a Faber or son of Albert Jacob, is just misrepresenting the truth. Thank you for sharing your story and memories! Very truly yours, Karen Hunt Great grandaughter of the owner of the Original Fabers Cyclery.
