House Heightening and a Glowing Sign: This Week's Planning Commission Meeting

The Campbell Planning Commission is meeting tonight to discuss two items on their agenda.

At Tuesday's Planning Commission meeting at 7:30 p.m., the committee will hear two requests: heightening a house, and adding a glowing sign in front of an office building.

For the first item, they will decide whether to allow the construction of an additional two stories to a two-story high private residence on the 1300 block of E. Campbell Ave.

The added two stories would not include any new windows peering out into the neighbor’s yard. The owner is also requesting that a barrior be built in the patio between their property and the neighbors so that “there is an increased sense of privacy for both properties.”

For the second item, the committee will decide whether AMCOE Sign Company should be allowed to place a 25 square foot sign in front of an urgent care clinic for South Bascom Medical Center (14651 S. Bascom Ave). The internally illuminated sign would read “After Hours Healthcare."

But, according to the proposal, the sign will not impact the nearby area: rather it will be situated within the existing landscape area at the corner of the office building.

If this sign is installed, the building will boast a total of three signs, comprising 125 square feet on the 62,000 square feet project area.
