First 48 Hours of 'Avoid the 13' Results in 35 Arrests
Santa Clara County's 18-day anti-DUI crackdown reports a significant amount of arrests.
Provisional reports from the first 48 hours of Santa Clara County's "Avoid the 13" crackdown on driving under the influence has resulted in 35 arrests thus far, with some agencies yet to report, according to a Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office press release.
The 35 arrests for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs were made Friday and Saturday throughout the county by 13 participating county law enforcement agencies, according to the county's report.
This year, Santa Clara County made 15 fewer DUI arrests than last year in the first two days of the campaign. On Sunday, additional patrols plan to concentrate their efforts in Morgan Hill.

The county will continue regular DUI checkpoints and multiple task forces operations as the 18-day crackdown continues through Labor Day, Sept. 5, and encourages all motorists to report drunk drivers by calling 911.
