Campbell Patch's Guide to Nov. 6 General Election

Two council seats were up for grabs in Campbell, and four school districts that serve local students have races on their school boards.

The Nov. 6 general election is just months away. Municipal, county and state candidates are already working hard on their campaigns to reach voters, and explain their political agendas. Campbell Patch will follow all the important races right up to election day, and after. The candidate filing period opened July 16 and ended Aug. 10.

In Campbell, voters will be electing representatives for the following groups:

, Governing Board

 Incumbents Juliet Tiffany-Morales and Leah K. Read have both filed their nomination papers. Elementary School Teacher Michael Snyder has also joined the race.

, Governing Board

Incumbents Rick Costanzo and Diane Gordon both filed their nomination papers. Education Technology Entrepreneur Kalen Gallagher and Retired Teacher Linda (Jopp) Goytia have also joined the race. 

Moreland School District, Governing Board

Appointed Incumbent Brian Penzel has filed his nomination papers to run in this fall's race as has Incumbent Robert Varich. Operations manager Julie Reynolds-Grabbe has also joined the race.

West Valley/Mission Community College District

Trustees up for election this fall are Chris StampolisBoard President Robert Owens and Trustee Adrienne Grey and Nick Heimlich.

City of Campbell, Council Member (ELECTIONS HAVE BEEN CANCELLED)

Both incumbents Jason Baker and Mike Kotowski . There was a special Campbell City Council meeting on Aug. 21 that for council seats seeing that they were uncontested, saving the city more than $51,000.

I am impressed with CalTrans ability to do the cleanup, but the problem of homelessness does not goRead More away. Until we find a way to help these people in need, the camps will just move to another location, and everything will start all over again. The homeless need help - whether they want it or not. It's time to get that ball rolling.

Who is Tony Faber? Here is some history from a family member. My name is Karen Hunt and myRead More grandfather is and was Albert Jacob Faber. He owned and ran that bike shop up until his death in 1975. Subsequent to grandpa's death the house/building became the property of my grandmother, Lucille Faber. Upon her death, the property went to my mother, Jackie Faber-Cornick. In 1978, the business, not the building was sold to Alex Lariviere and he has conducted business since. The building was never sold and belongs to my mom, Jackie Cornick. It was her great-grandparents home back in the 1920's. We are shocked and saddened by this tremendous loss. At this time, we are trying to decide the fate of that beloved building. We are currently awaiting forensics tests, engineering and structural reports, and working with the City to keep it safe and prevent it from being vandalized and becoming a blight. I'm happy to answer any questions you might have about the history of Faber's Cyclery. My grandfather was a man of character and integrity. Sadly, neither of his two sons became involved in the business. With that said, anybody claiming to be a Faber or son of Albert Jacob, is just misrepresenting the truth.
