BART Giveaway Drawing – $400 Visa Gift Cards & $40 Clipper Cards

In an effort to encourage holiday shoppers to take BART, the transit agency is sponsoring a holiday shopping sweepstakes with 10 "Shop and Ride Prize Packs." Each pack contains a $400 Visa gift card and a $40 Clipper card.

BART is holding a holiday sweepstakes drawing with Visa gift cards and Clipper cards as prizes. The contest is intended to encourage use of the transit system for holiday shopping.

Any California resident aged 18 or older can enter for a chance to win one of 10 "Shop and Ride Prize Packs." Each pack contains a $400 Visa gift card and a $40 Clipper card.

BART is "the best way to get your holiday shopping done," the agency said in a contest announcement. "You'll avoid traffic, parking and arrive relaxed and ready to shop. Remember, there's plenty of free weekend parking in BART lots and you can plan your trip using bart.gov's online QuickPlanner."

The deadline for entries is 11:59 p.m., Dec. 31. Entries can be submitted online or by mail. Instructions for entering by mail can be found in the official contest rules.

Only one entry is permitted per person. Anyone submitting more than one entry will be disqualified.

A drawing to determine the 10 winners will be held in Oakland "on or about January 10," according to the sweepstakes rules. You don't have to be present to win.

I am impressed with CalTrans ability to do the cleanup, but the problem of homelessness does not goRead More away. Until we find a way to help these people in need, the camps will just move to another location, and everything will start all over again. The homeless need help - whether they want it or not. It's time to get that ball rolling.

Who is Tony Faber? Here is some history from a family member. My name is Karen Hunt and myRead More grandfather is and was Albert Jacob Faber. He owned and ran that bike shop up until his death in 1975. Subsequent to grandpa's death the house/building became the property of my grandmother, Lucille Faber. Upon her death, the property went to my mother, Jackie Faber-Cornick. In 1978, the business, not the building was sold to Alex Lariviere and he has conducted business since. The building was never sold and belongs to my mom, Jackie Cornick. It was her great-grandparents home back in the 1920's. We are shocked and saddened by this tremendous loss. At this time, we are trying to decide the fate of that beloved building. We are currently awaiting forensics tests, engineering and structural reports, and working with the City to keep it safe and prevent it from being vandalized and becoming a blight. I'm happy to answer any questions you might have about the history of Faber's Cyclery. My grandfather was a man of character and integrity. Sadly, neither of his two sons became involved in the business. With that said, anybody claiming to be a Faber or son of Albert Jacob, is just misrepresenting the truth. Thank you for sharing your story and memories! Very truly yours, Karen Hunt Great grandaughter of the owner of the Original Fabers Cyclery.
