A Photo Contest and Formation of New Parks Foundation: This Week's Campbell Government Preview

Here's what's happening in Campbell government today.

The Campbell Parks and Recreation Commission will meet Monday at 6:30 p.m. and discuss several issues that may interest you.

Campbell's Recreation and Parks Department manages the Campbell Community Center and Campbell Historical Museum, oversees recreational programs and adult (50+) services, and is responsible for the Heritage Theatre Capital Campaign and for the operation of the theater, according to the city's website.

Here's an overview of some of what's happening tonight:

• "Let's Move, Let's Play" Photo Contest with Aperture Academy and the Parks and Recreation Commission will have a photo contest. It's in anticipation of Campbell's upcoming "Let's Move, Let's Play" event Sept. 24, intended to raise awareness about healthy living opportunities in Campbell.

The photo contest will involve taking pictures of people playing in Campbell. "We want to pictures of folks on the trail, on the track, taking dancing lessons, volunteering," said Cynthia Bojorquez, Campbell's recreation and community services director. "Whatever it means to play in Campbell, we want to capture those photos."

Photos for the contest will be submitted on Aperture Academy's website, and winners will be announced at the Sept. 24 event.

Official rule for the contest will be released before the end of the month, Bojorquez said.

• The commission will review the progress of establishing a foundation that will raise money in support of Campbell's parks and recreation department. There is an organization interested in starting the foundation, Bojorquez said, and a study session to consider the report will be held June 21.
