$45,000 Donation Helps Campbell Museums Out

Donation helps keep museums open and staff paid.

Two favorite Campbell institutions received donations totaling $71,000 at the Tuesday Campbell City Council meeting.

The received a $26,000 donation.

Also on the receiving end, the received a $45,000 from the Campbell Museum and Ainsley House Foundation.

The organization is the museum's 501c3 and was set up in 1993 to support the organization with a yearly donation.

"It's hugely important because they pay for our general fund, which pays for staffing and supplies we need to run our programs," says Campbell Historical Museum and Ainsley House Director and Curator Karen Lange.

Of the $45,000 about $15,000 goes towards staffing the museum's program assistances and a collection specialist, Lange says.

"It's really hard to get a grant for this," she says. "The collection specialist is only here about 10 hours a week, so it's really minimal."

In addition to this, the foundation has donated $10,000 to the local schools that come to the museum for its various programs, providing scholarships for bus and transportation, Lange says.

Previous donations made to the museum include one from the MOMS Club of Campbell, which organized a fundraiser to help the museum pay for school supplies for its school programs. The local organization raised $500.

A second donation was made by the Farrington Foundation, $800, so that the museums could put out some exhibit text for the .
