UPDATE: 11-Year-Old Taylor Vo Found Safe, Kidnapper Shot Dead by Police

Police have recovered 11-year-old Taylor Vo, kidnapped at gunpoint from a home in San Jose early this morning. After her kidnapper opened fire on police, he was shot dead.

An 11-year-old girl has been found safe, and her kidnapper was shot dead by police.

Taylor Vo was safely located at about 1:40 p.m., according to the California Office of Emergency Services, which issued a statewide Amber Alert after the abduction. The alert was canceled once Taylor was found safe.

NBC is reporting that Taylor's kidnapper, 42-year-old Tri Truong Le, was the ex-boyfriend of Taylor's aunt, and that the family suspected that Le had kidnapped Taylor to get back at his ex-girlfriend and scare her and her family.

Le kidnapped Taylor at gunpoint around 1:20 a.m. from a home in the 2600 block of Taffy Drive. Police said Le forced his way into the residence and assaulted a family member before firing several shots inside the home. Family members say Le demanded to see his ex-girlfriend.
