Three Firefighters Injured in Auto Repair Shop Blaze

A fire at AAMCO Car Repair Shop in Campbell left three firefighters injured Sunday.

A one-alarm fire at a Campbell auto shop injured three firefighters and shut down part of Winchester Boulevard late Sunday night.

Firefighters received reports of a fire at the at 3373 S. Winchester Blvd. at 11:01 p.m. Sunday, a Santa Clara County Fire report stated.

The fire appeared to be coming from the roof of the AAMCO car repair shop, which occupies one side of the two-tenant building, according to the fire department.

Eight vehicles were dispatched to the blaze. Police shut down the southbound lanes of Winchester Boulevard and diverted traffic to give fire crews more room to battle the fire, Campbell police Capt. Charlie Adams said.

PG&E also responded and a board-up was requested. Also notified was the Campbell Building Department.

Three firefighters were injured and were taken to a hospital. All have since been released, a fire report stated.

The fire caused an estimated $100,000 in damage to the building's contents, and about $5,000 in damage to the building itself, according to the fire department. According to the department, the origin of the fire was narrowed down to "the area of a parts washer" and is still under investigation.
