Stow Family Applaud Suspect's Arrest in L.A.

Police name the suspect in SF Giants' fan Bryan Stow's beating.

The family of Giants fan , who was severely beaten outside Dodger stadium in March, shared their excitement Monday morning about Sunday's arrest of a suspect in the attack.

His parents, Ann and David Stow, and sisters, Bonnie Stow and Erin Collins, gave a statement this morning outside of San Francisco General Hospital, thanking the Los Angeles Police Department, the San Francisco Giants and the media for their efforts to get word out about the case.

"We look forward to the day when the other suspects are apprehended as well," said Collins, who was wearing an LAPD baseball cap.

The suspect, Giovanni Ramirez, 31, of Los Angeles, was taken into custody in the 800 block of Mariposa Avenue in East Hollywood at about 7 a.m. Sunday, according to police.

He has been booked into jail on a charge of assault with a deadly weapon and is being held on $1 million bail.

A second suspect is also believed to have been involved in the beating, which occurred in the stadium parking lot after the Dodgers played the Giants on March 31.

Additionally, police are seeking a third suspect, a woman who was driving the car in which Stow's attackers fled afterward.

Stow's mother, Ann, said that when the Los Angeles police detectives called her Sunday morning, her heart "just dropped" when she was told a man was in custody for her son's attack.

She was told the news before police alerted the media, she said.

"Yesterday was a very emotional day," Ann Stow said. "One piece of the puzzle has been put into place."

There were no updates on Stow's condition. He was transferred last week from a Los Angeles hospital to San Francisco General, where he remains unconscious in critical but stable condition, hospital spokeswoman Rachael Kagan said.

Based on visits with Stow in San Francisco, Collins said the family hasn't noted any changes.

"It's still hard. We still talk to him and play him music," she said.
