Suspect Arrested in Gang-Related Shooting Near Winchester Boulevard

The suspect, 18-year-old Julio Cesar Vasquez was arrested Wednesday in connection to the attempted murder on Aug. 14.

The suspect in the Tuesday afternoon shooting off of Winchester Boulevard was arrested Wednesday, San Jose Police said.

San Jose resident Julio Cesar Vasquez, 18, was arrested in connection to the attempted murder Aug. 14 at 9:58 p.m. near the area of Cadillac Drive and South Wincehster Boulevard. After further investigation, it was revealed that the incident was gang-related.

"It was a matter of getting out there and investigating," said San Jose Police Spokesman Jose Garcia of the department's quick turn-around.

According to the police release, Vasquez was booked into Santa Clara County Jail in San Jose on suspicion of attempted murder, possession of a controlled substances and possession of drug paraphernalia. His is currently in custody without bail.

On Aug. 14, San Jose Police Department responded to a report of . 

According to San Jose Police, calls were received at 2:32 p.m. that a male adult had been shot. Officer arrived and found a 25-year-old Hispanic male suffering from at least one gunshot wound. The victim was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. He is expected to survive.

The shooting took place at the heels of three other incidents on Aug. 13, which left all three victims involved dead.

"None of the three shooting incidents are related," Garcia said.

Until we find a way to help these people in need, the camps will just move to another location, and everything will start all over again. The homeless need help - whether they want it or not. He owned and ran that bike shop up until his death in 1975. Subsequent to grandpa's death the house/building became the property of my grandmother, Lucille Faber. Upon her death, the property went to my mother, Jackie Faber-Cornick. In 1978, the business, not the building was sold to Alex Lariviere and he has conducted business since. The building was never sold and belongs to my mom, Jackie Cornick. It was her great-grandparents home back in the 1920's. We are shocked and saddened by this tremendous loss. At this time, we are trying to decide the fate of that beloved building. We are currently awaiting forensics tests, engineering and structural reports, and working with the City to keep it safe and prevent it from being vandalized and becoming a blight. I'm happy to answer any questions you might have about the history of Faber's Cyclery. My grandfather was a man of character and integrity. Sadly, neither of his two sons became involved in the business. With that said, anybody claiming to be a Faber or son of Albert Jacob, is just misrepresenting the truth.
