Social Media Vigil Aims to Bring Worldwide Attention to Missing Teen

The KlaasKids Foundation is asking participants to change their social media profile pictures to one of Sierra LaMar for 24 hours.

If you haven't already, there's still time to participate in the 24-hour social media vigil for Sierra LaMar.

The KlaasKids Foundation is asking participants of the Bring Sierra Home Online Vigil to change their social media profile pictures to one of the missing Morgan Hill teenager for a day.

It is part of a 24-hour social media vigil the foundation is hosting kicked off at 6:00 p.m. PST April 1 and ends today at 6:00 p.m. PST. The event aims at encouraging awareness, involvement and family support online for Sierra LaMar.

More than 500 volunteers gathered in Morgan Hill today to continue search efforts and to raise money. More than 60 teams searched a 20-mile radius around the 15-year-old's home.

Hundreds of volunteers have been scouring the area surrounding her home this week after Santa Clara Sheriff's Office officials and announced they had all but ruled out the possibility that the sophomore had run away.

LaMar was last seen March 16 before she left for school. She never arrived for classes.

KlaasKids, founded by Marc Klaas, whose 12-year-old daughter Polly Klaas was kidnapped from her Petaluma home in 1993, has been to help find LaMar.

Searches will continue Saturday, April 7 and April 11 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. The Find Sierra Search Center in Morgan Hill is located at Burnett Elementary School, at 85 Tilton Road.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call sheriff's investigators at (408) 808-4500 or the anonymous tip line at (408) 808-4431. Tips can also be emailed to tips@sheriff.sccgov.org.
