Sheriff's Arrests: Making Unauthorized Paper Money, Assault With Deadly Weapon

A look at the Santa Clara County Sheriff's arrests and booking reports for July 31, 2012. The following arrest information does not indicate a conviction.

Possession

  • Jose Rodriguez, 33, of Gilroy, July 31, 3:15 a.m., at Wron and 1st Street in Gilroy, for felony possession of controlled substance and misdemeanor unlawful possession of paraphernalia. Bail set at $11,000.
  • Hector Talavera, 36, of San Jose, July 31, 2 p.m., at 2500 Grant Road in Mountain View, for misdemeanor using/being under the influence of a controlled substance, felony possession of controlled substance, misdemeanor making unauthorized paper money and felony second-degree burglary.
  • Agustin Valencia, 23, of East Palo Alto, July 31, 10:30 a.m., at the Santa Clara County Superior Court at 270 Grant Ave. in Palo Alto, for possession of marijuana in vehicle and misdemeanor driving with privileges suspended or revoked. Bail set at $5,000.
  • George Matthews, 33, of Campbell, July 31, 3:45 p.m., at the Santa Clara County Superior Court at 115 Terraine in San Jose, for misdemeanor using/being under the influence of a controlled substance, destroying or concealing evidence, possession of controlled substance, resisting, delaying or obstructing a peace officer and felony possession of controlled substance and grand theft.

Vehicle Code Violations

  • Tery Lim, 25, of Cupertino, July 30, 8:42 a.m., on Stevens Creek Boulevard in Cupertino, for misdemeanor allowing unlicensed driver to operate vehicle.
  • Lester Bradshaw, 31, of Palo Alto, July 31, 12:30 p.m., in Santa Rita, for misdemeanor driving with privileges suspended or revoked and battery against spouse, cohabitant or fiance.
  • Jason Straaberg, 42, of San Jose, July 31, 10:30 a.m., at the Santa Clara County Superior Court at 270 Grant Ave. in Palo Alto, for misdemeanor driving with privileges suspended or revoked. Bail set at $25,000.
  • Wilfredo Tejada, 42, of San Clara, July 31, 10:40 a.m., at the Santa Clara County Superior Court at 270 Grant Ave. in Palo Alto, for misdemeanor driving with privileges suspended or revoked. Bail set at $25,000.

Robbery

  • Juarez Raymond, 19, of Los Gatos, July 31, 9:42 a.m., at the San Jose Hall of Justice, 190 W. Hedding St., for felony first-degree robbery of an automatic teller machine.

DUI

  • Jose Ramirez Armiento, 55, of Milpitas, July 31, 11:15 a.m., at 92 Brian Lane in Santa Clara, for DUI.

Battery

  • Juan Rodriguez, 36, of Gilroy, July 31, 2:05 p.m., no arrest location given, for misdemeanor battery on former spouse, fiance or cohabitant. Bail set at $10,000.

Robbery

  • Raul Perez Palomena, 32, of San Jose, July 31, 2:45 p.m., at 10333 No. Wolfe Rd. in Cupertino, for felony robbery and possession of controlled substance. Bail set at $60,000.
  • Donald Rovetti, 43, of Cupertino, July 31, 8:38 p.m., at 20955 Stevens Creek Blvd. in Cupertino, for felony first-degree burglary and felony robbery.

Assault With Deadly Weapon

  • Jonathan Ward, 31, of San Jose, July 31, 3:20 p.m., at 803 No. 1st St. in San Jose, for misdemeanor possession of controlled substance, vandalism less than $400 and assault with deadly weapon. Bail set at $100,000.

I am impressed with CalTrans ability to do the cleanup, but the problem of homelessness does not goRead More away. Until we find a way to help these people in need, the camps will just move to another location, and everything will start all over again. The homeless need help - whether they want it or not. It's time to get that ball rolling.

Who is Tony Faber? Here is some history from a family member. My name is Karen Hunt and myRead More grandfather is and was Albert Jacob Faber. He owned and ran that bike shop up until his death in 1975. Subsequent to grandpa's death the house/building became the property of my grandmother, Lucille Faber. Upon her death, the property went to my mother, Jackie Faber-Cornick. In 1978, the business, not the building was sold to Alex Lariviere and he has conducted business since. The building was never sold and belongs to my mom, Jackie Cornick. It was her great-grandparents home back in the 1920's. We are shocked and saddened by this tremendous loss. At this time, we are trying to decide the fate of that beloved building. We are currently awaiting forensics tests, engineering and structural reports, and working with the City to keep it safe and prevent it from being vandalized and becoming a blight. I'm happy to answer any questions you might have about the history of Faber's Cyclery. My grandfather was a man of character and integrity. Sadly, neither of his two sons became involved in the business. With that said, anybody claiming to be a Faber or son of Albert Jacob, is just misrepresenting the truth.
