Updated: Northbound Hwy 17 Lanes Open After 10-Car Pileup

Multiple-car wreck Thursday morning north of Redwood Estates Road in Los Gatos has been cleared.

Update: 12:30 p.m., Thursday, July 5: The two northbound Highway 17 lanes, which shut down for nearly two hours this morning,  are clear now following a 10-car pileup north of Redwood Estates Road in Los Gatos.

The California Highway Patrol responded to the accident, which was reported north of Summit Road in unincorporated Santa Clara County.

A severe traffic alert for this section of the deadly highway northbound past Madrone Drive was issued by the CHP.

All lanes were for about two hours by the multiple-vehicle accident. Motorists were advised to avoid the area and expect delays. There was no estimated time to reopen the roadway when the warning was issued,according to the alert.

Initially, it was reported that between four and five cars were believed to have been involved in the crash, which was called in at about 9:50 a.m. just north of Redwood Estates Road, CHP Officer James Evans said. No injuries were reported.
