San Jose Police Department arrested two suspects in the armed robbery of a Wells Fargo Bank on 2061 Camden Ave., near the Campbell border.
The robbery took place at 1:17 p.m. when two men with guns came into the bank and demanded cash, San Jose Police Spokesman Jose Garcia said. The suspects fled on foot. One was arrested nearby with a loaded gun on him and the other was arrested at about 2:30 p.m. in a car on Interstate Highway 880 near Brokaw Road, Garcia said.
The stolen money as well as the second gun were both recovered, police said.
The following schools had either enacted a "Shelter in Place" or "Lockdown" as a result, a San Jose Police report said.
- Oster Elementary School
- Price Charter Middle School
- Camden Community Day School
- ATLC Pre-School
- Fammatre Elementary School
- Saint Francis Cabrini Elementary School
- Cambrian School District Offices
Witness descriptions helped police identify and arrest the suspects.
"It is a bold act to commit a serious crime of this nature in broad daylight in the shopping center," Garcia said.
