One Person Dead in Early Morning Fire

Santa Clara County Fire and Campbell Police were at the scene early Wednesday morning at a four-plex on Kuehnis Drive.

 

Campbell Police, along wth Santa Clara County Fire responded to a an early morning fire Wednesday on Kuehnis Drive.

According to Campbell Police Capt. Dave Carmichael the incident occurred inside a storage unit attached to the carport of a two-story four-plex on 361 Kuehnis Dr. The fire was reported at 1:12 a.m.

"Firefighters were able to quickly extinguish the fire and prevent it from spreading to the entire carport structure," he said. "Upon checking the interior of the burned storage unit, a deceased adult was located inside."

Carmichael said the storage unit is about the size of a small
walk-in closet and that it appears that the person found inside may have been
sleeping there. The victim has not yet been positively identified, he said.

At this point, all facts leading up to the fire do not appear suspicious, Carmichael said.

Along with Campbell Police and Santa Clara County Fire, the County Fire Arson Investigator and County Coroner also responded to the scene.

"The Campbell Police Department will continue working jointly with County Fire and the Coroner's Office to complete the investigation," Carmichael said. "The Coroner's Office will identify the body once the family has been contacted."
