One Killed in Hwy 85 Crash Monday Afternoon; Northbound Traffic Snarled, Diverted

Accident reported 3:30 p.m. at De Anza Boulevard exit.

One person was killed in a crash on state Highway 85 in Cupertino this afternoon, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The crash was reported at about 3:30 p.m. on northbound Highway 85 at De Anza Boulevard, CHP officials said.

At least two vehicles collided there -- initially reported to be a Jeep and a minivan -- and two vehicles overturned, according to the CHP.

At least one person was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, CHP officials said.

All lanes of northbound Highway 85 are closed while authorities investigate the crash.

Motorists are being diverted off of the highway at De Anza Boulevard and there is no estimated time for when the lanes will reopen, according to the CHP.
