Neighbor Helps Stop Burglary in Progress

A juvenile suspect was seen on Harrison Avenue by a neighbor, who called Campbell PD.

Campbell Police officers responded to a call about a residential burglary in progress Tuesday.

According to Campbell Police Capt. Dave Carmichael, the initial call came from an "alert neighbor" who had witnessed a juvenile suspect enter the backyard of a residence on the 800 block of N Harrison Ave.

The suspect opened the front door and allowed a second juvenile suspect into the home, Carmichael said.

Officers responding to the call set up a perimeter around the home and took the two 16-year-old male suspects into custody before they could flee, he said.

The two suspects were found to be in possession of property stolen from the Victim’s residence and were arrested for burglary.

"This is a great example of neighbors watching out for each other, and affording the police the best opportunity to catch the suspects," Carmichael said. "As always, we want to encourage our residents to stay alert and to immediately report suspicious activity."
