Naked Man with a Samurai Sword Arrested West of Campbell

San Jose Police arrest the man after a three-hour standoff.

 

San Jose police officers this morning are trying to calm a naked man who allegedly had an assault rifle, then brandished a Samurai-type sword and told officers "You're going to have to kill me" several times in west San Jose, according to the San Jose Police Department.

Police responded at 8:05 a.m. to a report of a man armed with an assault weapon in front of a residence near Ezie Street and Cas Drive in east San Jose.

Officers later found the suspect's vehicle several miles to the west in the area of Southwest Expressway and Bascom Avenue in San Jose just west of Campbell.

The department's Crisis Intervention Team attempted to convince the man to drop the sword and surrender, police said.

The Mercury News reports that the standoff ended safely with the arrest of the suspect.

The assault rifle and the suspect's vehicle have been safely secured, police said.
