A developmentally disabled Prunedale woman reported missing by her family could be headed to the Oakland or Alameda area with a man, officials with the Monterey County Sheriff's Office said this evening.
Family members say Claudia Giron, 22, is socially high-functioning but has the critical thinking skill of a 12-14 year old, according to the sheriff's office. She does not have the ability to call or find her way home if she gets lost and is considered at high risk due to her disabilities.
Giron left a note telling her family she was leaving but did not say where she was going.
However, she told a family member several days before her disappearance that she was to be picked up by a man from the Oakland/Alameda area, and that she was looking for work in that area, officials said.
A person matching Giron's description was last seen walking on the road near her home, where she was picked up by someone in a silver or gray 4-door compact car, officials said.
Giron is described as a Hispanic female, 5 feet 5 inches tall and 105 pounds, with brown eyes and red hair. She was last seen wearing a leopard print shirt, black jeans, black leather jacket and brown shoes.
