Man Killed in Wrong-Way Crash on San Tomas Expressway Identified

The San Jose resident has been ID'd as 69-year-old Jesus Huerta.

 

The man who was killed in a head-on collision in San Jose on Saturday night has been identified as 69-year-old Jesus Huerta of San Jose, according to the Santa Clara County medical examiner's office.

The California Highway Patrol had originally identified Huerta as 59-years-old, but today the medical examiner's office said he was actually 69.

The CHP said the crash happened around 9 p.m. on San Tomas Expressway near Williams Road.

Officers said Huerta crossed the center divide and drove his 1990 Honda into the fast lane against traffic, headed north in the southbound lane.

That's when Huerta's Honda crashed into a Toyota being driven by a 68-year-old Campbell man.

CHP officers said Huerta was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Toyota was taken to Valley Medical Center and was expected to survive.
