'Don't Steal My Car ... There's a Passenger In The Back!'

Driver leaves unlocked car running with passenger in the back who scares burglars away by screaming when they attempt to reach for the keys.

"Don't steal my car ... there's a passenger in the back," is probably what a man screamed, or thought when he realized that his running vehicle, with the keys in the ignition, was about to be stolen by two burglars.

According to a Campbell police report, the men walked up to the unlocked running vehicle at about 3:45 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 11 in the 1600 block of South Winchester Boulevard.

The driver had gone inside a store do some shopping.

One of the men opened the vehicle's driver's door and reached for the keys, the report said, when a passenger in the back seat began screaming and the men ran away, the report stated.
