Curtner Ave. Home in Campbell in Flames Early Sunday

Resident tries to douse fire with a hose before firefighters arrive.

Firefighters in Campbell extinguished a one-alarm house fire early this morning.

Crews responded to a report of fire at a home on Curtner Avenue at about 4 a.m., Santa Clara County fire Chief Arson Investigator Dennis Johnsen said.

An occupant of a two-room outbuilding awoke to find fire in one of the rooms, Johnsen said.

The man woke up and started putting water on the fire with a hose, Johnsen said.

Firefighters responded and declared the fire under control in about 30 minutes, he said.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
